London, a city of timeless charm and hidden treasures, is a haven for charity shop enthusiasts. In our latest blog post, we unveil the best charity shops scattered across this eclectic city. From designer finds to vintage gems, these havens of secondhand shopping are a delightful way to discover London’s unique style and give back to the community.
1.Mary’s Living & Giving Shop, 206 Fulham Rd., London SW10 9PJ
My absolute favourite charity shop is undeniably Mary’s Living & Giving Shop. Within these walls, I’ve unearthed the most incredible designer treasures, like an Alexander McQueen black wool shorts for a mere £30 and a Max Mara skirt and blazer suit set for just £40. The icing on the cake? They frequently showcase adorable designer items in the glass box next to the till – think designer sunglasses, bags, and shoes. For fellow thrifters, this is a hidden gem worth checking out!
2.British Red Cross shop, Chelsea, 69-71 Old Church St, London SW3 5DB
This absolute gem of a charity shop, located at 69-71 Old Church St, London SW3 5DB, is where I stumbled upon a silk Hermes neck scarf for a mere £50 an image of which can be found below. Ladies, if this isn’t the epitome of a bargain, I don’t know what is. Personally, my budget doesn’t allow for splurges on such luxurious items at full price, but discovering these treasures in charity shops brings me immense joy.
During a conversation with the friendly staff, I asked for insider tips on the best shopping days, and they shared a valuable secret: every day is a good day at this hidden treasure trove. They receive new items daily, and gems can be found regularly. However, if you’re shopping on the weekend, arrive early, around 10 or 11, to avoid the crowds and ensure a more relaxed treasure hunt. Happy thrifting!
3. Cancer Research, 393 King’s Rd, London SW10 0LR
Saying I love this store is an understatement! I discovered an absolutely stunning Armani grey suit set here that hugs places on my body I didn’t even know could be hugged. The best part? You can uncover a treasure trove of designer items here, all for a price range between £30 and £200. And, if that’s not enough to convince you, they frequently showcase incredible designer bags. I once stumbled upon a nylon Prada tote for just £120. Don’t walk – run – to this remarkable spot for some truly exceptional finds!
4.Royal Trinity Hospice – Chelsea Shop, 389 King’s Rd, London SW10 0LR
This is where I hit the jackpot when it comes to top-tier designer brands, especially right behind the till counter. I’ve scored Chanel pants for just £100, a gorgeous pink Pashmina set from Loro Piana for a mere £90, and stunning Prada jumpers for around £80. But the surprises don’t stop there; they also offer breath-taking floor-length dresses tucked away in the back. It’s a treasure trove of designer finds waiting to be uncovered!
5. Oxfam, 432 King’s Rd, London SW10 0LJ
I can’t believe the treasures I’ve found in charity shops, like a stunning black floor-length dress by Diane von Furstenberg that usually retails for around £300, but I scored it for just £10! Not to mention a pair of the brand’s black trousers with a silver clasp and grey belt – they exude chic elegance.
What makes charity shops in Knightsbridge truly exceptional is the opportunity to discover brands and ranges you’ve never even heard of. These unique finds have a way of sitting beautifully and complementing various body types. It’s a shopping experience like no other, where everyone can find something to suit their individual style.
6. Oxfam Boutique, 123A King’s Rd, London SW3 4PL
Here in the list, you’ll notice there are two Oxfam’s, both located within about 20 minutes from each other. While I do have a preference for the one listed prior, I’d still recommend popping into the latter shop for a little gander. You never know what hidden gems you might stumble upon! Exploring both can be a delightful adventure in thrifted fashion.
